film

Film has brought back the epitome of the word "nostalgia" into wedding photography. As they say, everything comes back into style. For newer generations like Gen Z, they love the idea of the analog process of creating an object uniquely special to them for their day. For those that grew up in the digital world, digital images might not be as special or powerful to them. It's all about going back to the raw. Film photography truly forces the artist to slow down, create the frame, think about the lighting, the negative space, and the "moment". Sometimes these candids are more authentic, which is the exact look wedding couples are going for in their wedding day imagery.
I just recently started bringing a few film cameras to my wedding events and the couples having been loving the results. I love playing with new cameras and new shooting techniques, as well as testing out different labs across the country to develop my film.

My gear is constantly changing throughout the year as I discover new techniques, different cameras, and experiment with upcoming trends. I like to play with a mixture of 35mm film and medium format film. I've also dabbled in taking a few polaroidss at events, and even cheap disposable cameras.

My current favorite 35mm camera is my Contax G2. I mostly use this with a wide lens and flash for those editorial/paparazzi type photos. I've also played with the Contax T2 a lot as well.

After testing out a few medium format cameras, I finally fell in love with the Pentax 645nii. It is SO creamy and so satisfying to shoot! I also use a Holga 120 from time to time

My go-to film stock has been Kodak Portra 400 and 800. I've been playing around with some Cinestill Film for a more moody look.
