Christine and Mike are married! This one is extra special to me since I’ve known them both know for over a decade!! (Wow, that makes me feel old…). I went to Skidmore College with these two, which automatically makes them great people in my book. When Christine reached out to me about photographing their big day, I got all giddy inside. But let’s go back to the beginning:
The couple met on the very first day of college. They shared lunch together, chatting and laughing, and became great friends. They were friendly throughout college, mostly making fun of each other though, and didn’t actually reconnect until three years after they graduated. Christine was training for her first marathon, while also raising money for pediatric cancer. Mike, being the gentle, kind soul he is, donated to her cause, thinking he had done so anonymously. Christine, struck by his kindness, invited him to her race after party to celebrate! They quickly rekindled their friendship after that night and made plans to see each other the following weekend, and then the next weekend, and then the next…..
When Mike knew that he wanted to marry Christine, he went to ask her parents for their permission. After getting their approval, it was time for the proposal. It snowed for the first time in their new apartment, and it was Christine’s idea to exchange just one gift ahead of Christmas. She gave Mike a book with photos from their trip to Argentina in the summer. Afterwards, sitting on their couch, Mike asked if she was sure she wanted to be with him forever….and Christine didn’t think much about the question, and said of course. It was then that he gave her the ring. Christine cried (and said yes!).
They two wed in the same Chapel that her parents got married in, walking distance from the Yacht Club that her grandparents are members of as well. Many family memories were made at this venue, so it seemed to be a perfect fit. Close friends and family gathered into the tiny adorable New England chapel as the two shared their vows. We then all paraded to the venue down the road! The rest of the night was a big celebration and I am SO happy I got to be a part of it! Congrats to you two!!!!
