I'm so glad you are here to check out some recent work. I'm a Colorado wedding photographer that shoots all around the country. The blog is filled with full wedding and portrait sessions, and includes weddings planning tips and inspiration.
Aryn and Andy are engaged! We thought for months of the perfect spot for their photos. After doing a lot of research and scouting we got really lucky with our location. We decided to do a Blue Lakes Breckenridge engagement session for them, right at blue hour. Blue Lakes in Breckenridge, (not to be confused with the other famous Blue Lakes down in Telluride!), is a spot just about 20 mins south of the downtown ski village. It is pretty easy to get to, but the dirt road to the top is only open during the warmer months of the year. The lakes sit just underneath Quandary Peak, a beautiful mountain that is one of the most common 14ers to hike in Colorado.
This spot is also easy to park at, and there isn’t a lot of hiking involved. (While yes, we did have to drive up a dirt road to get there, it was very manageable!) This is what makes it great for engagement photos! We were able to get it all; wild flowers, an alpine lake, a waterfall, and beautiful views. As long as you don’t mind a lot of dispersed campers hanging out around your engagement session, then this spot is ideal!
This blue lakes Breckenridge engagement was made even better by the haze of forest fire smoke that blew in from Oregon and California. The haze through the setting sun gave off those most magnificent colors. With the sun dipping behind the mountains about 45mins before the ‘actual’ sunset, we had a perfect blue hour for our session. It didn’t hurt that these two were absolutely adorable as well! Congrats again to you both!!
