I'm so glad you are here to check out some recent work. I'm a Colorado wedding photographer that shoots all around the country. The blog is filled with full wedding and portrait sessions, and includes weddings planning tips and inspiration.
Becca and Zack planned their trip to Colorado around their Aspen engagement session! Becca grew up coming to this picturesque mountain town and couldn’t wait to show Zack around a bit. When chatting with me, she explained to me all of the beautiful spots she wanted to go for photos, and I was so down for it!
Stop 1) Top of Aspen Mountain;
We started the day with going up the Aspen Mountain Gondola to the top of the ski mountain for some epic views of the Elk Mountains Range. (Insider tip- the gondola tickets are $31 in the summer months. We looked into driving up the mountain, but it was a sketchy dirt road and would have taken us even longer to get to the top, so we just paid for the ticket and enjoyed the views on the way up!). At the top, we walked around a bit to find the best light and even an open field that still had some wild flowers blooming! Up here is also where the Little Nell Wedding Deck is! But it is currently closed and under construction for some upgrades as of July 2021.
Stop 2) Downtown Aspen Village;
After that, we rode the gondola back down to the village. Just a few blocks away are some beautiful cobblestone streets that are blocked off from traffic, and visitors are roaming around in search of the next afternoon glass of wine or clothing boutique for shopping. It’s a lively city in the summer! We walked around and stopped at a few spots, and eventually made a full mid-shoot pit stop for some food and drinks! All of the food I had is Aspen was amazing, and if you’re looking for a delicious dinner, I’d suggest stopping at the Wild Fig, or even getting a delicious cocktail out on the patio of the Hotel Jerome! (Hotel Jerome is also an insanely beautiful wedding venue!!)
Stop 3) Maroon Bells;
Lastly, but certainly not least, we drove out to Maroon Bells!! No Aspen engagement would be complete without going here. Maroon Bells is known to be the “most photographed place in Colorado“. I believe it! We went right as the sun was setting, and were lucky enough to spot a few animal sightings, including a plethora of deer, a beaver, and three foxes! Insider tip, this place gets BUSY, especially in summer and with peak visitors coming in the fall. It is highly recommend to get get a parking permit reservation online. It’s only $10 and it will save you the hassle!. Another insider tip would be to decide if you would like to be there for sunrise or sunset. For this session, we did sunset. I’ve also done a sunrise maroon bells engagement session which you can check out here! It is a totally different vibe! (P.S.- you can also get married at Maroon Bells!)
Hopefully this was helpful information when planning your Aspen engagement session!
