I'm so glad you are here to check out some recent work. I'm a Colorado wedding photographer that shoots all around the country. The blog is filled with full wedding and portrait sessions, and includes weddings planning tips and inspiration.
I met Alanna and Joel out in the Colorado desert plains at the Paint Mines Interpretive Park for their engagement session. Most people when they think of Colorado, picture the beautiful Rocky Mountain landscapes and snow capped 14ers. Many do not know that this state has a LOT more to offer than mountains! A good chunk of the state is located in the plains. There are even cacti and succulents out this way! If you are getting married in the mountains, then sometimes it can be nice to do a Colorado desert plains engagement session to switch things up.
The Paint Mines are SO cool. They are about 2 hours southeast of Denver. Understanding how these giant white rock formations were formed can be perplexing, but archeologists believe the area was once a rainforest, and wind eroded these dunes out over time. The whole area just pops up out of nowhere. The mines are all sorts of colors as well, including purple and orange. Windmills are moving in the distance as rain clouds are often forming ahead. The desert plains grass is a golden color and is so beautiful at sunset. If you haven’t been out this way yet, definitely plan a trip soon!
Just a heads up that there is a $100 photography permit to have your photos taken at the Paint Mines.
