El Matador Beach Family Photos

It was so nice to catch up with this family, as I shot their maternity photos a little over a year ago! We decided to take meet up for some El Matador Beach family photos to celebrate their baby girls first birthday! We were SO lucky to have that stereotypical SoCal weather keep us warm and give us that perfect sunset on the beach. Located about an hour west of Los Angles (and Santa Monica), El Matador is technically a part of Malibu. Parking is ALWAYS packed for this spot, but we lucked out. It’s a great spot for El Matador beach family photos. We walked down to the beach and baby Charlotte was in love with the sand and the water.

We hung out around the rocks and a beautiful haze was just past the shore where the sun was setting, making for a surreal backdrop. It’s so fun watching families grow, and I can’t wait to see this gang again in the future!!

Pro Tips for El Matador Beach;

Sunrise and Sunset are both beautiful at this spot! Be aware of crowds. Hence why a sunrise session might be easier. Also be aware of parking limitations. There is also a steep walk down to the beach from the parking lot, any might not be easy for the elderly or disabled. There is also a lot of traffic from Los Angeles out to Malibu.
