Tara and Ryland wanted their wedding day to fully represent their personalities and their love. They specifically asked their wedding guests that the dress code be “colorful and lots of patterns”. Let me tell you, their guests DELIVERED. The pair had a Guyton Ranch wedding that was met with the most perfect late summer weather and a gorgeous purple pink sunset. Their bubbly personalities was matched by the love from their friends and families.
Ryland had finished a 40 mile bike ride with friends. He had just gotten home in his surf front apartment in San Francisco — sweaty, stinky, and tired. Boom! The door flew open. He jumped. A beautiful girl in jean overalls and Berkenstocks flung open the door. She had a bouquet of sunflowers in one hand and an orchid in the other. Without noticing Ryland, she twirled and said, “This house is beautiful” Ryland leaned forward. She was there to meet one of Ryland’s friends, who then invited them all out to dinner that night. Who knew that years later they would be getting hitched in beautiful Colorado. When it came time to propose, Ryland was “nervous as all hell”. He hand made the ring and had flown to ask Tara’s parents for their blessing — above and beyond anyone’s expectations for Rylan!
For the proposal, Ryland and Tara had plans to snowboard with their friend, Jace. Jace’s wife was very pregnant. As Ryland and Tara started the morning Jace texted, “Hey guys, I’m on a hike with Arielle (his wife) and running a 30 minutes late.” So a little later Ryland drove Tara to Golden, Colorado…
Along the way Jace texted, “Guys, Arielle and I are on the top of Lookout Mountain and Arielle is having major contractions.” Ryland got the text. Ryland read it to Tara. And they both started screaming with excitement! (Little did Tara know this was a total false, and all her friends were hiding at the top of the mountain to celebrate with them.)
They parked at the bottom. Ran up the entire trail. Tara saying, “Ryland, I’m so good in emergencies” And Ryland telling Tara, “You’re a Physical Therapist, baby. If she’s really contracting up there, you may need to birth the baby.” At the top no one was there. Ryland dropped a knee. And half way through asking “Will you marry me, Tara?” Tara yelled, “Are you fucking kidding me?” And tackled Ryland and his tears to the ground. All our friends popped out and, “it was fucking epic”.

Guyton Ranch sits on 330 acres about 35mins south of Breckenridge, Colorado. It is closest to the town of Jerrerson, Colorado, and is right on Hwy 285, about an hour and a half from downtown Denver. This area is known for its sprawling ranch lands and bright yellow aspens in the fall. The ranch itself can sleep up to 12-16 people for lodging. On the property there is enough space for ALL of your wedding needs, including their own small chapel! The lot has room for a large cocktail hour field, complete with horseshoes, fire pits, and a kickball field!
Most ceremonies happen outside in the back lawn area, with the gorgeous rocky mountains as a backdrop. There are a few indoor spaces available, which are great for kids to hang out in with a game room inside! The barn acts as a great space for reception dinners, and the paved cocktail area is also a great spot to move to at the end of the night for some dancing.
The Ranch is a few minutes away from Kenosha Pass, which is famous for its aspen groves in the fall time that light up a bright yellow. It is also not too far away from Hoosier Pass, which is a great spot for photos if the wedding couple is coming from the Breckenridge area. The views and scenery around the area alone should be a good enough reason to host a Guyton Ranch wedding!!
The venue can seat 300 people inside the barn for a seated dinner. The great thing about this ranch wedding venue is the open space! A larger guest count wedding can easily stretch out in the fields and yards for cocktail hour and ceremony.
The overnight guests capacity is 15 people (which includes up to two dogs!!)
While you have the option to rent out the main house at Guyton Ranch (which sleeps around 12-16 people), the quaint ski town of Breckenridge is about 45mins away. Tara and Ryland had their guests stay in Breckenridge, and chartered two buses to transport their guests to the ranch. It is a beautiful and easy drive over Hoosier Pass which makes for great photos! Breckenridge has loads of hotel and airbnb options in town.
