Planet Bluegrass might be more known to some as a music venue in the small mountain town of Lyons, Colorado that has been hosting music festivals for the last 30 years. It’s popularity as a wedding venue has been on the rise and it’s no wonder why! With the stunning backdrop of the red rock canyon along the North St. Vrain river, and the cool shade of mature trees on site, and the perfect reception setup for an indoor reception complete with a music stage and dance floor, who wouldn’t want to get married here? It’s close proximity to Boulder and Denver make it a easy ‘mountain escape’ venue that isn’t too difficult to get to.
The large property can easily accommodate up to 250 guests whom can spread out and socialize all over the 20 acre ranch and dip their toes into the cool river that runs through the property. This is a venue that is perfect for music lovers (as it already is customized for loud music) and for a couple that wants to show their out of town guests the true beauty of the foothills of Colorado. Lyons sits perfectly inbetween the quaint town of Boulder and the epic landscapes of Estes Park and Rocky Mountain National Park. The venue can be very customizable and humble at the same time.
There are a few getting ready spaces on the property for couples and their wedding parties to utilize on the wedding day. Both have AC and heating and the necessities you may want while getting dressed. The space may be small depending on size of wedding party/guests that are invited to get ready with the couple, so some people have gotten ready off-site and then got dressed at the venue right before the ceremony.
Next to the river is a perfectly shaded area of mature trees that make for a stunning backdrop against the red rock canyon wall for a quiet and intimate ceremony. Guests will be thankful for this shade during the hot summer months! In inclement weather, ceremonies could be moved inside the pavilion if needed.
The Wildflower Pavilion is perfectly designed for indoor use, with wide open doors on all sides to let in a cool summer breeze. Inside is lighting, a large music stage, and a pre-made bar. The pavilion can host up to a 250 seated reception dinner, and has a large dance floor space as well!
Planet Bluegrass weddings are currently priced at $15,000 for a Saturday during peak season, which includes seating and chairs for up to 250 and exclusive use of the property. *The private residence on site can not be accessed. Their website gives a fairly detailed description of what is included and not included in their packages, as well as any restrictions they may have.
There is a cute village of airbnb-type options just across the road called WeeCasa tiny homes, which could be a fun experience for a group of guests to stay at! Or if you wanted to stay closer to a bigger city like Boulder, guests could be shuttled in from more well known hotels like Hilton Inn or more boutique hotels like the Boulderado.
