Hannah and Conner wanted to bring all of their favorite people to a little mountain town that would not only wow them, but provide a very memorable weekend of fun activities to celebrate their nuptials. They decided on doing a San Sophia Overlook wedding ceremony with a reception at Gorrono Ranch just down the way. This couple is all about adventure, and Telluride fit the bill for the perfect spot. I’ll be highlighting the first half of their wedding day here, where they said I do at the stunning wedding deck overlook, but feel free to check out the second half of their wedding hosted at Gorrono Ranch as well!

If one of your main goal’s is to wow your out of town guests at a Colorado destination wedding venue, then when on your google search you probably easily found photos of San Sophia Overlook weddings and immediately started saving and pinning images to your wedding mood board. Rightfully so, San Sophia Overlook boasts perfect views of the San Juan mountain range, and looks over one of the most magical mountain towns of Colorado. Telluride Ski Resort owns a few properties on their mountain that are available for wedding ceremonies and/or receptions. The San Sophia Overlook only is available for ceremonies, but is conveniently located close to a few of the reception spots too.
The overlook can host up to 250 seated wedding guests in their natural amphitheater that looks down on a wooden deck right on the edge of the mountain. It sits at 10,500ft elevation and is accessed by guests by the Telluride mountain Gondola Lift 7. You take the gondola to the very top, where you will be ushered off and down a short nature walking path up to the lookout. (Shuttles can be provided for guests that need them, but the walk is quite beautiful!) After passing a few aspen groves, you’ll immediately be welcomed by the immense views of the overlook at the San Juan Mountains.
To book a wedding ceremony at the overlook, you’ll be looking at dropping anywhere from $6k-9k depending on day of the week for summer months. The overlook is open for summer season weddings from June to October. For winter months (December to March only), the price will be more around $5k. The only other requirement for hosting a San Sophia Overlook wedding ceremony would be that Telluride Ski Resort does require a buy out of one of their other reception venues. Their reception venues are; Gorrono Ranch, Allred’s Restaurant, Tomboy Tavern, or The Peak’s Crystal Room.
