I'm so glad you are here to check out some recent work. I'm a Colorado wedding photographer that shoots all around the country. The blog is filled with full wedding and portrait sessions, and includes weddings planning tips and inspiration.
Like most plans of 2020, ours were flipped upside down and revised. We originally had a few international trips on the books, and I personally had a calendar filled with photography work that I was excited about. If this year has taught us anything, it is to adapt, accept change, and to also slow down and reflect. Without international travel, and with my first ever summer with free weekends with no work, Ryan and I decided to pack up the car (and Gonzo) and drive north to Wyoming.
We drove from Denver to Cody, Wyoming. (We were honestly more amazed with the landscapes in Wapiti canyon than most of Yellowstone!). Finding a cute airbnb that was dog friendly was key, the we headed into Yellowstone with out Gonzo the first day. The touristy spots were busy, but that’s pretty much all we did the first day without Gonzo. (You know- West Thumb, Old Faithful, Grand Prismatic Spring….). It was a loooong day, but it was so nice to come home to our pup!
The next day we drove through the park with Gonzo, and saw the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone with him, as well as Mammoth Springs. We then headed out the west entrance to UnderCanvas! We stayed one night there, which was great because they were dog friendly and gonzo loved meeting everyone at the firepit! I’m pretty sure he even ate a s’more there…
After that, we headed south through Idaho towards Jackson! We loooooved the drive heading into Jackson, passing the Tetons on the west side. Again, we found another cute dog friendly cabin, but enjoyed walking Gonzo around the town square. The Tetons are SO close to downtown, and it was easy for us to wake up at sunrise and zip into the park for sunrise photos! We hiked around Jenny Lake at sunrise, and spent a lot of the day just pulling over and taking photos of these stunning mountains.
While it wasn’t the trip we originally planned for the year, it exceeded our expectations and already want to come back in the winter. We’ve been having so much fun exploring our own ‘backyard’, which we consider anything driving distance from Denver!
