Adirondack Mountains Elopement | Dana + Shawnee
Dana and Shawnee, after a lot of thought and debate during a global pandemic, decided to opt for an Adirondack mountains elopement, instead of going forward with their 200 person wedding in the fall. While they were sad their close family and friends wouldn’t be there for the actual ceremony, they are still planning on celebrating with them all at a later date. The best part of elopements is the flexibility of it all! Dana and I discussed a lot of options, including location and date. We were able to figure out a good time frame, and then waited for a good weather window to head up to Lake Placid, where Shawnee’s sister owns a rental condo. It was perfect! Not too hot where the black flies would come out (a major problem that time of year!), but not too cold where we were uncomfortable. We brought up with us a beautiful wooden canoe that my dad had actually built himself, some fake flowers (made by yours truly!), some fresh flowers, and a ‘wedding cake’ that Amy (mine and Dana’s best friend from college) made the night before we headed up north. Using Shawnee’s sister’s condo as our home base, we scouted out multiple areas nearby, including some streams near Keene, and some canoe adventure spots on Saranac Lake. After a 20min canoe ride around some islands, we found ‘the spot’. Dana and Shawnee exchanged vows and popped champagne to make it truly official! I’m so honored to have been there for my good friend! If you are planning an Adirondack Mountain Elopement, you should definitely go for it! The entire region is stunning and you won’t be disappointed!
