Shelby and Piper were planning for a beautiful fall day for their nuptials in Colorado. The thing about Colorado though, is that we can get winter in summer, and summer in winter….all within one week! The forecast for their wedding week called for a few inches of snow. It looked like a white wedding was in their future! They rented out a lovely lodge style house just south of the quaint ski town for a Breckenridge winter AirBnb wedding. Friends and family stayed in the house with them and they had their ceremony just outside the front door facing snow capped mountains in the distance. The whole day was very intentional and the pair wanted it to be low-key yet beautiful. After dinner, their friends got out of their formal wear and into something more comfortable. Something they could do beer funnels in and dance to trap music!
I love Shelby’s story of how to two met;
“Well, we met the old fashioned way… Piper slid into my DM’s. It was September of 2016, Piper direct messaged me on tumblr. Piper was living in Colorado at the time and I was living in Florida. Piper is originally from Ohio and my family also happens to be from Ohio, over the holidays Piper was going home and I knew I had to drive 16 hours to meet her, so I did. There were fireworks and it was better than we could have expected, from that point on we were 110% dedicated to each other.”
As well as the proposal!;
“Piper’s proposal was extremely sentimental, she set up a beer flight in my mom’s backyard on Christmas and each beer represented a time in our relationship. The last glass was left empty so that we could fill it with adventures… and more beer. My proposal was going to be this sweet to do, but I couldn’t out do Piper… So last minute I decided to ICE her.”
Colorado AirBnb Wedding tips;
Choosing a rental property for your intimate wedding can be a great idea! Just know that there are some restrictions when searching for such properties. The first thing you must do is be VERY upfront and transparent with your host of your intentions. You can be fined a large amount for hosting an event without approval. Let them know the exact number of guests, as well as vendors, that will be on site the day of your wedding. A lot of properties will be listed as “suitable for events“. Even with this notice, there still may be a restriction on number of guests allowed on site, noise ordinances depending on locations, as well as parking restrictions on the property. All things to think about when booking a property! This article has some great tips on how to host an airbnb wedding!
