The Manor House wedding venue in Littleton, Colorado sits about 30 minutes from downtown Denver. This historic manor, built in 1914, was once the residence of John Charles Shaffer and hosted many affluent and historic figures such as Theodore Roosevelt. It has been well preserved and has a colonial ranch aesthetic. It’s the perfect venue for upscale and glamorous weddings!
While this venue is an obvious pick for local venues that I love as a Colorado wedding photographer, I’d like to highlight my top reasons for putting it on my list for Best Denver Wedding Venues. Some of these reasons include the aesthetic, the location, the amenities, and the photogenic backdrops. Visit various Scottsdale wedding venues if you’re scouting your wedding venue.

A major selling point for any great wedding venue would be if they have designated spaces for the couple to get ready and hideaway in before the ceremony. Bonus points if these rooms are actually *cute*.
The Manor House has a few areas to get ready in. There is a fun room in the main house down a metal spiral staircase that leads to what they like to call the ‘man cave’. Down there it is dark and moody, complete with a pool table to entertain your wedding party for awhile before the festivities begin. This spiral staircase is found in the “library” area of the main house. I LOVE this area for portraits, as it is very masculine with deer antler chandeliers and amazing window light. The main house consists of about 20 rooms all together, so there are lots of places indoors to hideaway and take portraits!
Detached from the main house is a guest cottage named the Ken’s Caryl Cottage. This cottage is huge! There are multiple bedrooms and bathrooms, and a great living area with a full kitchen. If you have a lot of friends in your wedding party that might require hair and makeup, this cottage would be perfect for that! Bonus, you can actually stay the night in this cottage after the wedding! So you wouldn’t need to move all of your stuff out after you are done getting ready.
Another reason I love the Manor House weddings is because it’s location and proximity to downtown Denver. If you live in Denver, or if the majority of your friends and family are flying into Denver, this venue is so easy to get to! It is located in Littleton, which is about 30 mins from downtown. It is super close to Morrison and the red rocks as well. Lodging options are plentiful while being this close to downtown. There are a plethora of hotels and airbnbs for your guests to choose from.
While the proximity is a great selling point, so is the landscape of this location! The Manor House sits on its own 8,000 square foot property, which almost no other buildings in site. The property is a lot of rolling hills and winding trails. In the distance to the west are the foothills of Colorado, which the sun beautifully sets behind in the evening. These fields make for the PERFECT sunset portraits! The entire property is a wedding photographers dream! below are some examples of photo locations that I love on site.
The most popular ceremony space on site is the backyard area behind the Manor. Where the ceremony altar is usually set, perfectly frames a view of downtown Denver. This space can easily fit around a 200 guest capacity. This space makes for a nice flow of events, as guests can arrive at the front of the Manor to the grand view of the columns at the front entrance facade, and walk through the Manor to the back yard. It gives the guests a great experience!
For a ceremony space rain option, the indoor reception hall is large enough to also accommodate a 200 guests list. Keep reading below to learn more about the reception hall space!
Continuing with the flow of the day, after the ceremony, guests will be ushered to the patio area for cocktail hour. They will feel like they are sipping cocktails on the patio of a large Southern manor! Guests are also allowed inside the Manor at this time to mingle as well!
One of the greater selling points of having your wedding at the Manor House is the beautiful and unique reception hall! The all white room has tall cathedral ceilings and is a mix of industrial and barn vibes. The large space can easily fit 200 person capacity without feeling squished or cramped at all. A fireplace on the far end is the perfect center piece to the space, and is usually where a head table is placed in front of.
This room is perfect for reception photography, and is every wedding photographers dream space to shoot in. Your guests can party all night long, and can even escaped through one of the many side doors to view a quick sunset as it happens!
If you’re not sold already, there are a few other tidbits about this venue that might sway you into choosing the Manor House for your wedding! First, they include all of your ceremony and reception chairs and tables in the cost. That means you wont have to find a rental company to provide those for you. There is also a helipad on site! So, if you’re extra bougie and want to arrive via helicopter…..I mean…you can do that! Food trucks are also allowed, but might need to get the approval of the venue first. The venue is kid friendly and handicap accessible. Lastly, you have the option to stay overnight at the venue at the Ken’s Carly Cottage!
If you’ve been convinced that this is the venue for you, and want to learn more about pricing and packages they provide, you’ll have to head over to the contact form on their website and reach out for more information. They can provide different seasonal pricing for you as well as different package options. Expect an average price point of about $30k, which would also include rentals, food and beverage, and tax.
