It was such an honor to photograph Sara and Bob’s wedding at the Rose wedding venue in downtown Golden, Colorado! They had their names up on the marquee for the whole day, and they felt like super stars! It was a great gathering for their friends and family and an awesome location for them all to get together and celebrate their love. If you are looking for wedding venues Charlottesville, consider visiting The Space Downtown.
JUMP AHEAD TO:
The Rose Event Center has been many things in its lifetime. While the event venue opened in 2019, the building is as old as 1859! It was once a garage for some of the first cars made in the U.S. (and you can still see the stall markers on the side of the wall!), and then was transformed into an indoor swimming pool! After that it was a department store, and then a concert venue attached to the neighboring saloon. It has since been renovated and still used as a concert venue, as well as an event venue (including weddings!). The new style is very modern industrial, with brick walls, dim lighting, and dark paint. The State Room and Lobby have beautiful leather seating options, and the bar has a dark masculine countertop.
To rent out the Rose for a 10 hour time frame can run anywhere from $1,000 to 7,000, depending on season and day of the week. But what does that include?
The Rose is an all inclusive experience, and can provide not only an in-house coordinator, but chairs, tables, linens, china and flatware, as well as lighting and table decor. The also provide in-house catering and beverage service! (They ARE attached to a saloon after all!)
The Rose is a large venue! It is easily 7,500 square feet! (And that is not including the additional space of the balcony and state room!!) They can easily fit up to 200 seated guests. The mezzanine balcony also has additional seating, which is fun for guests!
The Rose is located right on the main street of Golden, Colorado, and sits under the “Welcome to Golden” sign downtown. It is attached to the Buffalo Rose Saloon on the corner of 12th and Washington Ave. You can’t miss the venue, as the main doors will be right under a large marquee, that you and your partner can put your names on! It is just blocks away from the Golden History Park and the beautiful Clear Creek. Around the block is also the downtown parking garage, so parking it always easy for guests. Golden is about 20 mins from downtown Denver as well. There are LOTS of great lodging options between the two cities. Another fun thing in town is the Coors Brewery!
The main floor of the venue is where all the action happens. For the ceremony, you can opt to put up a curtain to cover the stage, and use that as a backdrop for your ceremony arch. You could always use the stage to your advantage as well, so that you can be see by all of your guests! Usually during cocktail hour, the guests will be ushered to either the Lobby or the State Room (if you decide to rent it out). During this time, the Main area will be transformed (or “flipped” as we call it in the wedding world), into the reception area. There can also be a space saved for the dance floor.
Being a concert venue, it is always an option to have a live band perform for you on the stage! You can even hire your favorite musician to come perform as a surprise to your partner!! How cool would that be for your guests!
In addition to the Main venue, you can also add on the State Room as well as The Lobby to your wedding package. I’d highly recommend both rooms! The State Room is hidden upstairs on the balcony level. It has it’s own bar and is a great space for cocktail hour. It has lots of seating (with fun leather couches and chairs) and great window light.
Another great area is the Lobby, which is right when you enter the venue. There are two shuffle boards located here, as well as the main bar area. The bar is a complete wrap around bar and can be accessed from all sides.
The Rose has a large and beautiful getting ready room on the upper floor of the event space. It has a funky style with a blue couch and leopard print rug, very rock and roll! There is another room downstairs in the back for getting ready if needed, but it is a bit smaller and darker in the second room.
About 10 mins up the road is Lookout Mountain. In between all of the pine trees and rocks, you can get some pretty epic views of downtown Denver from up there! It is also a great spot for sunset!
About three blocks away from the Rose is the Golden History Village, which sits on the beautiful shore of Clear Creek. This park has original buildings from the 1920s! It has been preserved for a cute reminiscing feeling in the downtown area. And the best part, its free! Wedding parties can easily walk here from the Rose for portraits. You can also go down by the creek which is right there as well.
