Katie and Robert had a beautiful Wedgewood Boulder Creek wedding! Over a few fun drinks while getting to meet and know these two, Katie gushed over her vision of a ceremony arch covered in pink baby’s breath! She showed me her Pinterest ideas and vision for the day, and I was getting so excited. I also loved seeing these two giggle together; they’ve known each other for such a long time it was like they knew what the other was thinking. Their humor and general happiness and excitement for life pumped me up for their wedding day and their gorgeous wedding venue in Boulder, Colorado.
Katie and I had been in talks leading up to their wedding about all of the planning, and I even scouted out the venue with her and her mother a month before the big day. We checked out their ceremony spot, reception area, and then even got in the car and drove up the mountain a bit to find a great spot for portraits.
A June wedding at Boulder Creek at Wedgewood Weddings can be so beautiful. We struggled a bit with the scouting times because the weather and seasons can change SO much between May and June! One month before visiting the venue, it was covered in snow! Two weeks before the wedding, the grass and trees were still all brown. Luckily by their wedding date in early June, everything was a vibrant green.
It was a sunny and perfect early summer day in Colorado, with the rivers gushing and the greenest green and the leaves of the trees. After their first look, I took these two up the road to Betasso Preserve where they said a few private vows. We photographed them from a distance, and while I couldn’t hear what they were saying, they had an equal amount of laughs and tears and they said a few special words to each other. We then headed back down Boulder Creek at Wedgewood for their ceremony! They decided to use the ceremony space right be the creek, which was almost overflowing with the spring glacier melt. Two kayakers even went by during the vows!
We then moved up to the cocktail hour lawn, which they had a few lawn games set up for their guests. They then moved into the reception tent, a space which could easily fit about 150 guests! It was covered in beautiful flowers that hung from the crystal chandeliers as well. Toasts were given, and everyone laughed. The night would end indoors for some light night dancing (and PIZZA!!), as well as a sparkler send off for the happy couple.
For those interested in getting married at Boulder Creek at Wedgewood Weddings, I’d highly recommend it! Boulder Creek at Wedgewood Weddings is a beautiful all-inclusive wedding venue in Boulder, Colorado. It is a fair priced venue that can accommodate a large number of guests. It also has indoor and outdoor ceremony and reception options, which makes it great for all seasons. The creekside ceremony location is so romantic, and has a built in birchwood ceremony arch. The tented reception space has crystal chandeliers that hang from the ceiling. The surroundings are of a lush forest which is a quick drive up the mountain from downtown Boulder, Colorado (about 10-15mins). It is a great option for locals, as well as out of towners for a destination wedding! Guests have a lot of lodging options within Boulder to stay, and it is an easy drive up the mountain to Boulder Creek at Wedgewood Weddings with either Uber or a shuttle (or your own car).
There are two outdoor locations to choose from. Katie and Robert chose the picturesque ceremony spot located right on the river front. It was peaceful and unique! The only downside about having your ceremony here would be that it can be tight on the edges. You will also need a speaker system to be able to be heard over the river. Honestly, neither of these things seemed to be a bother, and the atmosphere is worth those two work-arounds!
The other outdoor option is in the grass area right next to the reception tent. There is already a stone alter in place! This space is much larger and can accommodate a larger guests count. If needed, ceremonies can also be held indoors. You could use the reception tent space as a rain backup, as well as the indoor reception space inside the building.
The most commonly used space for reception seating and dinning is the tent in the back lawn. It’s huge! I could fit easily 200 guests, perhaps more. It’s great for all seasons as well. It can be kept warm in the cooler months, and be opened up for fresh air in the summer (like Katie and Robert did). This spot is located right about where the cocktail lawn is (and the upper lawn ceremony spot).
The venue itself is so beautiful, that you don’t necessarily need to go off-site to get beautiful photos. The river alone can be used for couples portraits. There is also access to the river on the other side of the parking lot, and a few lawns which are great for family portraits and bridal party portraits.
Katie and Robert did have enough time in their timeline to head up to Betasso Preserve, where they exchanged their vows privately in the large field overlooking the mountains. The preserve is exactly 8 mins driving distance away from the venue! There are also other cute pull offs on the road up the mountain that have access to the river which also make for great portrait spots if need be.
Another option would be to go down the hill back in to Boulder. From there, there are even MORE creek spots for photos, as well as red rocks. If given enough time in the timeline to go off site for portraits, I’d highly recommend it!
Wedgewood Boulder Creek weddings also provide catering to their couples! Their food was delicious and the staff was very accommodating. The venue also has two getting ready rooms for the couple. The cost for catering runs about $116/person for their ‘Premier’ package. They also can provide chairs, linens, and the lawn games if needed. It’s kind of a ‘build your own package’ venue, where you can add any of their add-ons, or bring them in on your own with an outside vendor.
