I'm so glad you are here to check out some recent work. I'm a Colorado wedding photographer that shoots all around the country. The blog is filled with full wedding and portrait sessions, and includes weddings planning tips and inspiration.
I’m so excited for my friends, Christina and Tanner, who will be expecting a baby boy any day now! They were some of the first friends I’ve met since moving to Denver. They both moved to Colorado from other states, so it’s nice to have a solid friend group in a new state. And now, our friend group is growing by one! I couldn’t wait to photograph their maternity photos. I hadn’t taken many Boulder maternity photos before their shoot, and I wanted something a little different for them. So we chose a new spot that I hadn’t seen used to often. Sawhill Ponds in Boulder!
I knew about Sawhill Ponds because I walked my dog here one afternoon. It was so beautiful with the water birds and the mountains in the background. It was so peaceful, and I also kind of liked it in the non-summer months with the trees still bare of leaves. It was giving me “Safe and Sound” by Taylor Swift music video vibes. I wanted to roll with this look for their maternity photos!
We chose sunrise, which worked out in our favor, as the cold air created a beautiful layer of mist over the ponds. (Poor Christina was freezing though! Such a trooper!) We had the whole place to ourselves, which is rare for anywhere pretty in Boulder. These ponds might be my new go-to spot for any Boulder maternity photos I take in the future! It has it all- water, wildlife, trees, rollings hills, tall grass, and the flatirons in the background. It’s also very accessible for parking and walking.
Photography tip for Boulder Maternity Photos;
When shooting in Boulder, make sure you get a photography permit before scheduling portrait shoots at most locations. Also, sunrise will usually have less people at all trailheads. There were pit toilets at the parking lot, but other than that, there are no facilities.
