I'm so glad you are here to check out some recent work. I'm a Colorado wedding photographer that shoots all around the country. The blog is filled with full wedding and portrait sessions, and includes weddings planning tips and inspiration.

I had the pleasure of flying down from Denver, Colorado to Cancun, Mexico to photograph my friends’ Finest Playa Mujeres Wedding earlier this year! As a Colorado wedding photographer, any time I get to travel for destination weddings make my heart flutter. It’s fun to switch up the scene and escape for a bit! Even though I was working, I still felt like I was on vacation. It helps when the venue they chose is of high quality and beauty as well.
Caitlin and Jesse met through mutual friends, and it was basically love at first sight. Ever since they started dating, they’ve been going full force into life together. They’ve bought, gutted, and renovated many houses together, along with multiple other high intensity projects. Working together as a team really built a strong foundation for their relationship (pun intended). They decide a tropical getaway would be a great excuse to relax for a bit and get their friends and family together in one setting to celebrate. Finest Playa Mujeres was a great choice to do so!
JUMP AHEAD TO:
Finest Playa Mujeres is a highly rated all inclusive resort located on the coast of the Yucatan Peninsula just a short (15 minute) drive north of Cancun, Mexico. From the airport, is was about 40 minutes or so. And they do provide a shuttle service for their guests. It is a family focused resort with a modern aesthetic. I’ve been to a few all-inclusive resorts, and this one so far has been my favorite! It was very clean, upscale, and pleasant. The beach was perfectly combed and had no sargassum (at least at that time of year). The beach had little to no waves too -thanks to the Isla Mujeres blocking a lot of the waves coming off the east coast. The water was also that beautiful crystal blue that you see in magazines. I could have bobbed in that ocean all day!
There are many pools and restaurants on the property- some kid friendly and some adults only. A lot of the hotel rooms even had swim up suites! The rooms were large and spacious and had great balconies. The gym was also one of the better hotel gyms I’ve seen in a while.
For the wedding events, the hotel put together a welcome party on the beach two days before the wedding. There were coconut drinks, s’mores, and margaritas all by fireside on the sand. They actually did a lot for the couple, with things that were included in their wedding package. (More on that below!)
If you are recently engaged and wondering if a Finest Playa Mujeres wedding in Cancun is for you, I have some more information for you that may sway your decision.
As of 2026, the usual prices range for a late winter/early spring wedding was $7,000 for 40 guests, with $75 for each additional guest. This would include food and beverage for the wedding, along with chairs, a wedding planner, and some minimal decor. A few other perks would be things just for the couple- such as a complimentary couples massage at the spa!
According to past brides that had their wedding at Finest Playa Mujeres, the communication with the resort can be sparse. They actually send you a wedding planning app where you can pick and choose your add ons for your package, so there isn’t much face to face chatting with hotel representatives. If you’re a type A planner and what a lot of hand holding in the planning process, then this might not be the best option for you! But it does seem that the resort still can pull off making small details come to life even with little notice! What a lot of couples have done though, is higher an outside wedding planner, OR a travel agent that focuses on destination wedding travel. Caitlin used Just Book It Travel, an agency very familiar with the resort. They were very helpful go-between when it came to bookings and contracts. They are very affordable to work with, as their commissions come from the resort.
When it comes to room blocks for your guests, the resort actually offers a promo code instead- which is how they keep track of your guests. Guests can get up to 50% off if coming for a wedding!
Lastly, there is a very supportive Facebook page of brides who have had their wedding there, which is how Caitlin figured out how everything works even before the resort started reaching out to her. It’s called FANS of Finest Playa Mujeres.
While the hotel has lots of kid focuses areas and activities, it did not feel like a “kid” hotel AT ALL. It was upscale, clean, modern, sleek. Think white walls, sharp lines, modern touches. There were adult only areas, and the kids area isn’t a part of the main hotel- they have a designated region within the hotel on the back side that is just for them.
So the Yucatan’s best “season” for a wedding would be anywhere from November-April. It’s *just right*- 70s-80s in temperature, less sargassum (the local “seaweed” that washes up on the beaches), lower humidity, and the most reliable weather! Caitlin and Jesse got married on March 1st and the weather was literally perfect that whole week!
With you hotel wedding package, they do provide a hotel-based photographer. I have never heard of one couple that used a hotel photographer say that they loved their photos. The truth is, photography is the one thing from your day that you can keep for decades to come- it is always worth the investment to hire someone whose work you sought out, and love. In all honesty- a lot of photographers would love to travel to Mexico in our usual “off season” (Colorado’s wedding season is June-October!) for a wedding, and may even offer off-season discounts. I did! Of course, there are rules to bringing in an outside photographer- especially if they are not from Mexico. Always make sure that your photographer has the correct paperwork to work in Cancun and at the hotel.
If you liked Caitlin and Jesse’s Mexico wedding, then I think you’d love this private island mexico wedding in Puerto Vallarta! Or something more local and chic like this Denver Botanic Gardens wedding.
